Browns Canyon was designated a National Monument February 19th, 2015. We are excited to be able to share it with you!
Browns Canyon National Monument is the most popular trip on the Arkansas River, and for good reason. A secluded canyon nestled along the ancient Mosquito Range and magnificent Collegiate Peaks of the Rocky Mountains between the towns of Buena Vista and Salida, Colorado. Spectacular scenery as you travel through a beautiful forested canyon and fun splashy whitewater combine to make a trip you will remember for a lifetime. Class III (Intermediate) rapids like Canyon Doors, the long and wave filled Zoom Flume, and the seven steps of Staircase are sure to excite and thrill you and your family and friends. Marvel at the naturally sculpted canyon walls and boulders, crystal clear trout filled waters, and other abundant wildlife like Blue Heron and Bighorn Sheep as we travel through this secluded Colorado wilderness.
Do you want more time on the river? Full day trips are longer and include more rapids like Seidel’s Suckhole and Twin Falls, and spectacular views as you float out of the canyon into the upper Arkansas river valley. Don’t worry, we’ve got your energy levels covered, full day trips include fresh lunch served along the river. Your guides will prepare your monumental sub sandwich, fresh fruit, chips and salsa, and desert while you relax beside the river. Special dietary considerations? No problem, just let us know when you book the trip and we’ll prepare something appropriate and delicious.
“Our rafting trip with Monumental was the best part about our vacation! I needed an activity that all four of our children would enjoy and this one delivered…and then some. This company was the perfect choice and our guide was AMAZING. On our next trip to the area, we will definitely use this company again….and again….”Crystal M | Trip Advisor
“I have been rafting before on Clear Creek, but this was way better. Our guide was very knowledgable and the trip was awesome! Highly recommend Browns Canyon!”Emily T. from Florida | Trip Advisor
